Building A Patio Oasis

Having a pleasant and decorative home does not have to stop with the inside. There is a plethora of ways you can turn your backyard into a patio oasis. From birdbaths to a beautiful garden to a cozy outdoor patio fire pit, there is no saying what you cannot do with your backyard and patio.

If you are going to build a patio oasis, you want to come up with a specific theme to follow. Having a theme like Caribbean, desert, or starry night can help you determine what to include on the patio and how you want to go about designing it.

No matter what theme you opt to go with, having a patio fire pit is a must. It can be the focal point to your backyard as it provides entertainment, beauty and comfort on a cool summer night. There is nothing quite like gathering the friends around a bonfire and roasting marshmallows, joking around and having a good night.

When selecting a fire pit to place, you will want to determine whether you want a portable unit or a permanent and also which fireplace tools you need to go along with it. Each has its benefits and different features to enjoy. Obviously, portable fire pits are mobile and easy to move around while a permanent unit tends to be more stable and secure.

Something else you will want to take into consideration is how you will light the patio heater. Are you going to have a wood-burning fire, electric, or gas fueled fireplace? It all depends on what you are looking for and what kind of theme you are building off of with your patio oasis.

If you are going to go tropical with your patio oasis, you want to keep it light-hearted and green. Including tiki torches, bright lights and perhaps a small fountain or bird bath can add to the overall theme. You can also accomplish a tropical setting with lots of flowers, plants, and a garden nearby.

The last thing to consider with your patio is what type of furniture you want to have. Again, take into consideration the type of theme you are creating. Having wood chairs fits in more with the tropical theme while rusty or metal chairs goes with the contemporary or Victorian theme.

There is no point in leaving the decoration and style to the inside of your home when there are so many ways you can liven the patio. Start by selecting a theme to follow and then move on to the patio fire pit. This is an essential ingredient to your patio no matter what type of theme you opt to choose.
